Telluride Culinary Art Festival
In heart of the San Juan mountains in Southern Colorado, the Telluride Culinary Art Festival was a celebration of food and art over a late summer weekend. I was the Creative Director for the festival series, designing the logo, original event artwork and branding, both traditional and digital.
First annual Telluride Culinary Art Festival
For the premiere event, I created a bold, stylized still life of spices and oils to clearly define the purpose of this new event. With yellows, oranges and browns, this digitally drawn piece was created in a fall palette to reflect the upcoming season and to draw eyes as poster and street banners.
For the event logo, I created a simple line drawing, clearly telling the story of this culinary festival located in a mountain setting. This logo style is easy to produce, displayed on event merchandise and the Ketel One ice sculpture.
The first season was a tremendous success, with great chef demonstrations and beautiful weather, and we were set for another summer in Telluride.
Second annual Telluride Culinary Art Fesitval
For the second year, I wanted to create a very different brand; focusing on a clean and simple composition. As event art was getting busier, I wanted to create a simple elegance in the brand. I finalized upon oil and vinegar bottles as the subject, with an elongated style finished with digital coloring.
This new brand, along with the same logo, was used through all the marketing, both traditional and digital. Once again the weekend was a huge success, and after just two seasons, the event series was acquired by a different promotion company.
